Fan clutch "store this face down" ?

Just a curious question because I have no idea of the internal workings of the fan clutch.
When I removed the fan clutch I noticed on the front it says "store this face down".
I can follow directions so it has been stored face down...but why?

thanks

Interesting... I never have seen this before. Can you post a picture of it?

The clutch has silicone fluid in it that the clutch uses to engage and disengage itself. Looks like they want the fluid to stay at the reservoir end for storage...

It's just to keep the fluid from leaking out. They never know how long it's going to be before it's used. I know they have a seal to keep the fluid from leaking out but as with any seal, non use causes them to leak. When it's finally used, the seal will soften and do it's job.
