Factory Heater Delete ???????????
Factory Heater Delete ???????????
Did the 69 442/Cutlass ever come with a factory heater delete?
I read somewhere that Hawaii cars could be ordered with heater delete.
Is this true or false?
If true has anyone seen one or have pictures?
Do they ever come up for sale , and what is the going rate?
Thanks
Bernhard

Thanks for the reply now the hard part, to track one down that the owner want's to part with.
Nice car very sweet what's its best et/mph
C48 Heater delete is identified as an Export only option in '69 ('68 too). Not to say that it couldn't be special ordered, but I can find no evidence that it could be. A dealer could, of course, remove it too. But you did say "factory".

Thanks for posting the pictures. I was looking for factory block off heater delete. That is a good point that you made as it also could be dealer installed or Export only. I'm going for the factory race car look. I did a internet search and found that they are making then for the Chevelle and they were made in the USA . My next question, are all A body heater boxes the same and block off plates the same across the GM line? From what year to what year would the 69 442/cutlass fall into.

I know that 68 Hurst Olds very well, and it was not originally from Hawaii. However, the car was brought to the State back in the early 70’s, and spent its life as a race car. The car was not an original heater delete car as a friend of mind installed the heater delete. I do remember the car being a radio delete car.
In Hawaii heater delete cars were brought in up to 1969, and thereafter D.O.T required cars to have a windshield defroster. As a matter of fact I have a 1969 heater delete from a W-31.

Would you mind posting pictures of the heater delete? Was your heater delete done at the factory or dealer?

Bernhard, I have never seen a heater delete installed at the dealer. On a heater delete car one component that was different was the firewall insulation pad. There was no opening for a heater. For the dash plate it was made of plastic, and it had a texture on it. For the firewall plates, there was several different types depending on the make, year and model. Generally speaking 1968 and 1969 had the same firewall plates.
Thanks for the reply.
I posted two links with pictures of the repo heater delete, is that how yours looks?
