My '68 Cutlass has factory cruise control. It has been intermittent on working. When it did work, it was great. Went on a couple of so so long trips and was very nice.
Then it just didn't work any more. So today I took it off the car and pulled the cover. On the inside is a flyweight that pushes a bar to move a contact point, I filed the contacts and had to adjust the point to make sure it touches when the flyweight bar moved. Now it works just great.
A very simple job. For those that have cruise and does not work. Pull the cover and check the contacts. May just get it working again.

Thanks for your input here. My '69 has cruise control that doesn't engage at all, even though the little light comes on in the dash when the system is turned on.
