Factory 8-track manual

Factory 8-track manual
My car is '71 equipped with a factory 8-track. Was there any glovebox literature for these back in the day and, if so, what are the odds of me finding something like that?

Good question. My 72 has/had a factory 8-track and possibly like you I have a repro glovebox book plus chassis & service manuals. Nothing else I know of. I guess there's not much to know about them. Put the cartridge in, it plays. Take it out, it doesn't. While mine was a novelty it did chew up every 2nd tape I played so I took it out, stored it away, and replaced it with CD/radio in a housing that one of the C.O guys makes. It bolts into the original dash holes the 8-track uses. That and a set of moulded kick panels that take 6" speakers and I've got a reasonable sound system without hacking into the car.

Mine works perfectly (although I don't use it so that it will stay that way). I don't want a manual for the user info per se, more for display purposes at shows (I even have the original Olds demo tape hanging out of it). That 8-track gets more attention than than anything else it seems .

Mike, far as I know everything on operation and care of the tape player was covered in the owner's manual. Delco Radio did publish service literature for it, but generally only radio repair shops used it.

I've been fooling with the 8 tracks for about ten years now so I've kind of kept an eye out for anything 8 track. It's operation is described in the 70 owner's manual.
There are a couple "new car literature" type pieces that refer to the 8 track. One is a quadfold pamphlet that shows a bunch of available options including the 8 track player.
There are also two styles of the large 11'x12' or so 1970 dealership brochures that show the 8 track.
The quadfold is in the bottom left of the pic.
