This is from an old High-Performance Cars magazine. Car later received Phase III tuning from Motion Performance.
Of course, this color and stripe was available that year, but it wasn't a recommended combination according to the literature. That doesn't mean no one could order it - it just meant one had to be clever going over the option list and have a salesman who was accommodating.

That's like really far out, too groovy man.
Does that lettering on the nose above the nose emblem say Phase III? That is cool, they'll be clones everywhere now that it's out.
It looks like an Aurora AFX slot car color combo.

i like it.
i bet that car had an X on the build sheet. i have no documentation to back that up but i have seen two cars with odd color combos and heard of another, all having an X. i wish there would be documentation of this X fenomenon to surface.

AMC
hey Diego , have you ever seen an AMC Rebel from 69 ? My uncle had a white one with red , white and blue stripes. Also had a black interior , buckets , 390 , 4 speed. Was a pretty cool car for AMC.

Wolfman, you mean a 1970 Rebel Machine, which were available in other colors too.
Back to Mr. Jensen: Your dad had a Sebring Yellow car with blue stripes (like my car)? Any photos?
What about the Rally Red car? I think gold would go ok with them.
But I don't remember hearing about an X in the cowl tag.
I have pics of one other strange-colored car . . . it's gold with a red stripe, which kinda matches but wasn't a recommended combo.

1. Scoops (not limited to hoods)
2. Black-outs treatments.
The latter is one of my favorites as it was more subtle than scoops and stripes. Definitely left a very long term visual impact on me!

Could have been a 1970 but my uncle got it in 69 as he ordered it ahead of time. it was called The machine and the 3 stripes started small at the very front getting larger as they got to the back then they went over the trunk.

Wolfman, there only was one Rebel Machine, although for 1971 there was a Machine package for the Matador.
Kurt, never liked black-out hoods as a rule. I could try to think of something on them, but it is not as unique as stripes because, by golly, all the hoods end up being black! :-)
By the way, did you send me that email? I never got it.

Uh, what email? Sorry, oldtimers set in...........

Not really a fan of black-out treatments. What did Olds do - black-out grilles?
In regards to your brainfart, you had sent me a PM to remind you to send me something, which I bet was on your Jetstar I?

I remember my uncle talking about it as an early xmas present to himself and it was a 70 but he got late 69 kinda like I can go get a 2010 model now. I know that production #'s were very low especially here in canada and the only one I have seen in person was his though I saw one in a magazine once that was a different color but still the red white and blue stripes. I think it was black.

51 , so the white ones were the only ones with the red white and blue stripes? that would be an option only for white AMC Rebels in 1970 which would stand to reason them being hard to find.
#27
I'm not an AMC guy, but I think only the white ones received the RWB scheme.
I also believe about 2500 were built in all.
Looking for a source, I have found this - sorry for the Wiki:

Thanks , it brings back memories from when I was like only 12. Too bad that he sold it when I was 18 and I did not have the money to buy it cause I sure would have. it looked as good as the day he got it with only around 25,000 miles. he mostly used his truck for driving around and never drove in the winter.
