Evasive maneouvres in 1970
For me, that helps reinforce the 1 car length/each 10mph driving gap (or 1 second/each 10mph), leaves plenty of room for reaction/avoidance/stopping, especially in old cars. Newer cars mostly have superior avoidance capability but I still generally adhere to it.

Exactly how I learned to drive. Hands at 10 o'clock & 2 o'clock, one vehicle separation for every 10 mph. I still abide by this strategy today.
