Ebay 83 Hurst Black Cherry! Ahem!

Got a chuckle out of this especially the factory black cherry color and rare lightning rod shifter edition... http://www.ebay.com/itm/1983-Oldsmob...m=192069004918

1983 Oldsmobile 442 H/O 307 Hurst 15th anniversary edition When Olds introduced the 4-4-2 the term "Muscle Car" didnt exist in most peoples dictionary. But with a 4 speed 4 Barrel and dual exhaust, gear heads noticed. Then like most Muscle Cars through the years, the 442 morphed into more of a styling study than a true performance machine. But hey, style is cool. In 1983 the style of the G Body GM cars was hot and Olds capitalized on its performance heritage and brought back the Hurst/Olds name plate and created a 15th Anniversary Edition in Black Cherry and Silver with the iconic Hurst "Lightning Shifters". This one is a marvelous example of that style and engineering that is very clean, solid, and true to original. The 15th anniversary only produced 3000 but with the lightning shifters only half so this will soon be a very desirable collection

Yeah, definitely pegging the meter, however it IS a VIN 9 car, which would mean a H/O for 1983. Apparently a repaint. I kind like the color combo. I would like to know what orifice the seller pulled this from, however:

The 15th anniversary only produced 3000 but with the lightning shifters only half
So half the 83 H/Os DIDN'T get lightning rods? News to me.

I'm just amazed he could somehow imply an 80s G body was a muscle car.

Love the color. In December of 84 I bought my wife a new black 85 442. No T tops but most everything else. When the car was in the sunlight, there was slight sparkle in the paint. I know the factory did not have the metallic black at that time, but this paint had something in it that sparkled all over. Maybe the previous car on the paint line was a metallic color and the system didn't get flushed thoroughly but this car had a silvery sparkle.

Odd you should say that... I purchased a Black 85 Cutlass Salon salvage vehicle in the early 90's and when I had the repairs completed and painted using the correct vehicle paint code, those areas repainted had a metallic tint... it did not match the original black, but my painter insisted it was correct according to the vehicle paint code... Over time the metallic appearance just faded away...
