An Ear for Olds V8s

I've always been able to pick out the sound of a Rocket V8 from all other V8s. They have a very distinct exhaust note. It's especially easy for me to distinguish the 1964+ new-style V8s. Definitely music to my ears.

I agree. I met the guy that I bought my car from at a gas station to see it the first time. Busy intersection, big gas station. My back was to the road, and I heard it right before I saw it, and I knew what it was.

olds sound

X2 My old man called it the"Oldsmobile bubble sound".
In early highschool, we walked to an area a few blocks from the school to get on a bus to go home, we played a game called name that brand of car, with my ears I would name 9 out of 10 with my back turned.

Today most sound the same any more, No it's not my hearing going, just had it tested less than a year ago, quote from the lady "fantastic hearing for any age" My wife would disagree!!!

So that's why nobody confuses my car for a Chevy when it's running.
