Drivetrain value?

62 394 w/Bowtie 700r4 100k plus miles
A poster on a FB group has one he's gonna sell but is unsure of value.
I don't need the engine but would love to do the trans swap. For the right price a spare engine isn't a bad thing though.

Any thoughts on fair price for everyone?
My thoughts are no more than 2k. 1500 would make me feel good.

Considering the adapter kit for the OD trans can run in the $1800 range by itself, I think your price expectations are on the low side.

Of course they are I'm the buyer. 😃
The setup is 15 yo so it has to have depreciated quite a bit. No?

Without receipts from a machinist the engine is a core $500-$800. The adapter kit is pricey; as Eric mentioned, but is only valuable if you plan on swapping the engine and transmission into your car. I'd offer $1000 and hope he takes it.

Engine has over 100k miles so it was put together well I'd assume. But it now has over 100k on engine and trans so I think core price is fair.
Thanks

Yup, it’s a core.

The engine is a "core" and I wouldn't give more than $300 for it. The transmission is in "unknown" condition, which to me say "core". Buy it for the adapter kit. There isn't a lot of demand for Olds 394 stuff and I assume also for the adapter kits.

He came up with 4k for engine and trans.
Video showed the engine isn't running right. Sounded like it wasn't firing on all 8.

I offered 800.
I'll keep looking

Thanks

Yeah. Good news is I'm not tearing my car apart anytime soon.

Thats about all its really worth, maybe a little more if the adapter kit isn't damaged. The engine is a $300 core and the transmission is likely a $300 core also. .
