The Drawer
The Drawer
Some of you remember I built a garage last year. Well my buddy who did the electric is a jack of all trades in addition to being a retired cop. He's very talented. I had to share the drawer he built for me for my bench. It's basically done but you won't believe it when it's finally finished. Soon as it is I'll post the pics. It's roughly 34 inches square and almost a foot deep with 250 pound rated 36 inch long slides, haha.

Impressive! I know you said it's rated for 250, but it sure looks like those slides are lighter load limits than that. I doubt you'll ever put 250 in it anyway so it's really no issue. That's going to hold your power tools really nicely. I really like the removable tops to keep dust and crap out.
I guess it pays to stay friends with law enforcement after all!

That's actually done with a CAD machine from a JPG file. They can try and sue me all they want. It's free advertising for a now defunct brand as far as I'm concerned. That is why the dates are in black.
Hard to tell the scale from the pics but that sign is 37 inches wide and roughly 11.5 inches tall. The bench is 8 feet long

Just a heads up on any orders.
1) You have to understand this was a gift to me from two different people, my two best friends. One made the sign out of poplar and painted it with sign paint supplied by the sign maker who does this for a living. The other paid for the sign painter to take the JPG and cut out the logo using his CAD machine. If you see it up close the detail is amazing. Every cut is beveled at the bottom and the depth varies throughout.
2) As you can imagine the above process was not cheap when you add up man hours, material cost, outside labor (sign painter), etc. I personally do not know how much my friends spent on this but I could make an educated guess. I truly have great friends who went above and beyond for me. More than likely this was fueled by me being on total disability and the bad year I just had. I never use that as leverage and prefer to do everything I can on my own. In fact many of the extras on my garage were done gratis.
With that being said I will still ask if making these is something they would do. It doesn't hurt to ask but I'm not sure the answer will be a positive one. They both have great jobs and only do this stuff on the side or in special cases. It pays to have great friends and I am blessed with the best of them.
I shared this project because I thought it was something many on here would appreciate. I steal ideas off this site all the time so feel free to use my ideas any time you want.
