Door Jam Switches (4)

1971 442 Cp.
Why 4 switches (2 per side) ??
Ive played WHEREs WALDO with the schematic and so far gone cross eyed and have only found 2 (R&L)

I know 2 (r&l) r for the dome.

I’m with Murph… never seen one with more than one per door, unless someone added switches for an alarm or something….

All 4 look FACTORY/same design and FACTORY installed. From what i can figure out it takes removing the Fender to get to these so cant believe someone would install 2 extra.

If you had buckets, and the optional power door locks, you could get the optional power seat back release. It released the seat back lock when either door was opened. I think that option had a 2nd set of door jamb switches.
And no, you don't need to pul the fender to get to them, the kick panels need to be removed and the switches are accessed between the outer cowl and the inner bracing.

What I would do is pull the kick panels and see what color wires are going to the switches. The wires for one set of switches should match the CSM. It is possible the other was for a dealer installed alarm, but the wiring & wire colors will help identify.

If that was the picture in post #12, they show the RH & LH switches next to each other. So just 1 switch per side.

Is this a car that actually has two switches in each door jamb? A picture would help. Are they possibly an aftermarket alarm installation? Does the car have power seatback release? Do you even know if they are factory installed? A lot can happen to a car in half a century.

I thought the same thing Joe said. Could be a set added by someone for an aftermarket alarm system. I have seen that done more than a few times. Pictures could definitely help.

WELLLLLLLLLLLLL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im thinking u guy r right. and they were added by someone in the past. They look so correct it was throwing me off. Few hrs ago i went out and played with the switches, They look the same BUT spring tension between the upper and lower is diff which now makes me think they r diff. Im going for the idea of an alarm system which explains a non original wire running R to L from the kick panels.

WHEN UR WRONG UR WRONG
