Went back with dog dish caps on my 66 trac pac car. Except I used 15 x 7” steel wheels on back with 255/60/15 tires. Fronts are 225/70/14” tires and 14 x 6” wheels. Stripped and sprayed them with delta fleet gloss black with hardener. I found these like brand new hub caps on ebay, guy had them listed as another year, his dad took them off his car back in 1967 and were in the attic all these years. Gives it that ol school sleeper look.
I like the dog dish, but I would have went 275-60-15 in the rear.
Yes, I thought the steel wheels I bought from a guy were 15 x 8, which would house 275’s, but when I received them they were 15 x 7’s, hence the smaller tire decision..
Andy, I did the same to my silver 66 trac pac 2 months back. I removed the american racing mags and bought steels with the dog dish. That is the way my car originally came with. I like that old school all business look. my car has no power anything or radio or heater. So I thought this cant have [mag wheels.] they must go] >>>>> Your car looks great like that, [ luv that black] >>>> QUESTION why does your car have 2 different plate #s ???

Florida doesn’t require a front plate, i got an original 1966 never circulated Florida license plate. So I put it on the front. Eventually, I’m gonna see if the state of Florida let me issue that to my car, but I haven’t done it yet

I believe Florida does not care about whether it was issued or not. They also do not care about whether it is right for the car's weight class, or the county, which used to be part of the number. You will have to send the plate to Tallahassee for inspection, then it will become your plate forever, like literally your plate. This is as opposed to Indiana and other states where they send you a plate, and you pay an extra fee for a registration with both numbers and you keep the modern plate in the trunk.
My old man did it on a 71, and his friend hunted high and low for a Seminole county double weight exemption tag for his 56 New Yorker, which is what it would have gotten then and there. He found it and that car wore it till Jim passed. Who knows where it is now?

Cool, I will follow up on this. That would be a neat thing for the car. Gracias..

Just so you know, if you get pulled over by some harda** cop he could give you a ticket for having the unregistered plate on the front.
here is the Florida statute.
320.261 Attaching registration license plate not assigned unlawful; penalty.—Any person who knowingly attaches to any motor vehicle or mobile home any registration license plate, or who knowingly attaches any validation sticker or mobile home sticker to a registration license plate, which plate or sticker was not issued and assigned or lawfully transferred to such vehicle, is guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.
On a scale of none to some, how much traction does that Chevy have with nothing in the bed when you give it all the onions from a stop?
Maybe a 2 or 3, usually just goes up in smoke, slam second and she is squirreling all over until it grabs. 275/60/15 on the back. Like you pointed out, no weight. It’s a 427 with 840 rectangle port heads, solid lifter, 373 posi factory rear gears. the 396 been gone a long time.
