This was put on the firewall by the dealer when car was new.

The dealer is still in business but no one there has any idea about the decal. The dealer has always been the performance GM dealer, even now they still are.

old guy in the parts dept said the dealer owner back then always ordered special cars. On the firewall data plate it’s stamped X05 which means special order through sales

A Canadian built or sold new car? Would the Vintage services have anything?

Was thinking the dealer keeping track of dealer add-ons for future repair and part reference but the X05 references something out of the ordinary. The decal doesn't indicate GM anywhere does it?

You may be talking with the wrong people at the dealership. It says right there on the sticker that the details of the special parts 'are kept on file in their parts department for your protection'.

I already spoke to the parts department. the oldest guy there was 65 and a child when the car was sold. they don’t have any records of anything like that. It probably got purged years ago . I have some Facebook posts up looking for anyone who is retired from there in sales or parts .

with todays paranoid society the dealership can’t give me any personal contact info..even though they told me there are some old retired guys from there who are still around.

Create an email with your contact information and questions and ask if the dealership will forward it to, or even call, the oldsters. That way they are not revealing any private information.

Good luck.

Do a search for the dealership. I've seen articles that referenced employee names. The search those names. Things like business license references and the BBB will give you old addresses for those people to help narrow down the search to the correct John Doe.

Since you've been at this for six months going this far down the rabbit hole won't hurt.

that makes some sense. is that the optional door top trim or maybe the trim when you have vinyl top or different top colour? With the same body colour, just the trim

I’ll bet Joe P knows

ok thanks. Then it might be the trim on the doors since the 66 didn’t have that thin upper body trim running the length of the car.

Or the roof to lower body separation trim.. this car has it but it’s a single colour car
