Does anyone know how to take the plastic cover off the light in the glove compartment
#6
Did you try it with the car lights on? Olds wired the glovebox, underhood, and trunk lamps thru the headlight switch back in those years. Car lights have to be on for any of those to work.
You may have to remove the glove box liner to get at it if it won't light with car lights on, but you run the risk of damaging the cardboard liner trying to get it out. Fusick reproduced them at one time www.fusick.com if you need one, but it would be a shame to tear up one so nice. I nearly destroyed the one in my blue 64 Starfire trying to get it out once, and that was with taking extreme pains not to damage it.
Look at your fuse block under LH side of the dash. You should see a cavity at the bottom right labeled "G B LT" (Glove Box LighT). The glove box light power wire plugs into that. If it's not plugged up, look for a black wire with a female plug end on it hanging in the area.
