Do I Have Factory Front Disc Brakes?
Do I Have Factory Front Disc Brakes?
Happy new year y’all!!
So I have a 71 Cutlass Supreme that I have recently purchased and am going through that seems to be mostly stock and unmolested. It has front disc brakes and I know that there was a factory option in 71 for discs, so my question is how do I know if these might be stock? I am very familiar with aftermarket conversion kits (drum to disc) and in my experience there’s typically either a brand stamp on the calipers or nothing at all. Mine say DELCO with a part number so I’m assuming they are stock? Just looking for some reassurance as there are some EXTREMELY knowledgeable Cutlass geeks on this site that have likely forgotten more than I know! Are there any tell tale signs that would confirm factory option, grafted from another year / vehicle or aftermarket?
Thanks in advance!!

Delco-Moraine
Oldsmobiles, and the A body Cutlasses were higher up on the GM hierarchy. More of them would have been optioned with the Factory single piston front disc brakes. The setup debuted for the '69 model year, replacing a quite rare two year four piston design.
