Diesel Chevy trucks

So, apparently there are 2 mounting systems for the Olds diesel in chevy trucks.

One system uses a rubber-less motor side bracket and the chevy style clamshell mount on the frame side. (Anchor #2292).

The other system uses a rubber mount on the motor side and a rubber-less motor perch on the frame side. (Anchor #2328).

Just putting it out there. My '79 Chevy has the second style. Found out after buying the wrong mounts yesterday.

Interesting. I've never seen the trucks use the car-style mounts. I'd appreciate photos of the frame mounts if possible. Thanks for the info.

When I first read this I wondered if its the one they used in trans ams with the 403...and it is.

It appears they were used in a LOT of gm vehicles, including trucks. I learned something too.

Sorry, I installed the motor yesterday on the old mounts. I had to get the others from out of town.

When I change the mounts, I will try to get some photos.

Anchor 2292 is just the standard Chevy clamshell mount. It's used on probably 90% of the RWD GM vehicles. It's the engine-side bracket that's unique to the Olds installations. These brackets let you bolt an Olds motor into any car that uses the Chevy style clamshell frame mounts. These were used on Olds 350 and 403 motors in Firebirds, 76-79 Sevilles with the 350 Olds, and 1980-1990 Fleetwoods with the 307. The diesel trucks used the same frame clamshells but the engine brackets are longer than on the car applications.

I have a set of those brackets off a fire chicken. Looks like I need to find any kind of chivvy to put one of my olds 350s into.
