Did some work to the Orange Bomb!
Did some work to the Orange Bomb!
Some of you may remember me making a thread a few months back when I was curious on the effects of a carburetor spacer. Well, as it turns out, one of my buddies decided to surprise me for Christmas with just that: a 1'' spacer for the Quadrajet. So, having some free time after swim practice from 7 to 9 AM (joy), I convinced my Dad to bring the car into work with him so I could come and learn a few things! He works in an auto shop, so it makes things much easier with the lift, more tools, etc.
We decided that we would tackle the right-rear wheel bearing and right-front brake drum today, and if we had time, put the spacer in as well. I took some pictures as we worked! I wasn't the only one learning today... Hahaha. Besides the heads that the previous owner said he replaced with some aftermarket ones, we learned that he also installed an Edelbrock aluminum performer intake! We also learned that the very first owners (originally from W Virginia) decided to remove/place things in weird places. Vacuum lines, the water temp sensor isn't even there...and my oil pressure switch is now leaking. We're finding more jobs as we fix things! Haha.
I'm sure my walls of text probably get annoying to some, and I'm sorry. I tend to talk a lot outside of the internet as well, and I'm very excited to be getting work done on the car for my school dance in February! (gotta impress the date to have another chance, right?) Also, I'm linking a little video of Dad letting the car breathe a little after we were done. Forgive me for the poor quality, I have to convert it for Instagram. Thanks for reading!
