Delta got made fun of today

I know people will like this, but it's not a Hybrid thread

I'm driving the Delta today to my mom's house this afternoon and I get stopped for a light and there are 2 kids, about 17, standing on the corner, smoking, waistband on pants around their ********, and each had a really really...really bad beard.

So the one's looking at me, 2nd car back, and he nudges his buddy, and he's looking at the car. They are both laughing, not LOL, but giggling like little 6th grade girls, at my car, while waiting for a bus!!!

So I drive by really slow and shout at them, "Enjoy your bus ride, boys!" They watch me drive by, like this --->

I admit my Delta is a bit rough looking, but it's not public transit

Geez.... Kids will be kids I guess. Good response to them.
If some one gave 'em a barely running vw beetle, they would think that's the best car on earth.

Sounds like my kid.

14 years old - he hides if he thinks anyone sees him riding in the Delta convertible.

My Cutlass is not so nice(yet) and I was cruising near the fairgrounds were the Goodguys were this summer. The streets were lined with lawn chairs watching the cruisers. Someone yelled as I drove by. "Keep going" I just laughed.

As the owner of an original 40 year old paint car...I know how you feel.

Just the other day at a cruise in I overheard one guy griping to another about my car saying "if you ain't gonna paint it,at least put some wax on it".
It has wax on it...the paint is 40 years old! I felt like telling him,you better hope you look as good as this car does at 40.

Ah...what do they know? I'm the one with 9 trophies in under 2 years with the car .

I have had my share of tauntings...

Each time I laugh, because I know I've done more to this car than most will do in a lifetime.

My favorite is when I've taken it Autocrossing. Yes, I got laughed at, until the bigger better faster more experienced guys came over and said "Wow man, you have really nice car control"

I keep my bracket car loud and crappy looking. That way I really get to shove it down their throats. 14 years ago they scowled, and 14 years later they still have to choke it down as their junk breaks down while they still have 1/2 the payments left on it.
I can also assure you that snobs don't like seeing Wallys as Oldsmobile hood ornaments.

Delta 88: $50
Look on people's faces 14 years down the road: Priceless.

My car also has it's 37 year old original paint. It gets a lot of looks as I drive it around, not sure what most people are thinking... figure something along the lines of how huge it is, how much gas it must use, and that it looks like a POS. That's ok though, we know the truth...

With my old Delta. I was still married and living in a very rich town. I would drive the Delta, not every day, but when I'd drive to the Acme people would look at me with total disgust and are probably thinking, "What's that white trash guy doing around here" With nothing, and I mean NOTHING done to the car, with the exception of a "Classic Car" license plate, people were smiling, waving, and shouting that it's a really nice car as I drive by

Mine will be getting one of the Arizona "Historic Vehicle" plates this October. We'll see how that goes. I know the sound of the exhaust does turn heads when I accelerate away, and it always puts a smile on my face.
