Look at the trans ID numbers. It should have the VIN derivative on it if OEM. Of course, it could have been swapped out even if it was originally a 4speed. Look at all the linkage and the hole cut into the floor.
Original paperwork is usually definitive.
ST69 = 1969
33687 = is Cutlass S holiday coupe 3 = Oldsmobile division 36 = Cutlass S Note: This can also be the tag numbers on a legit 442 for 1968 and 1969. 87 = Holiday Coupe 2 door HT
LAN = Lansing plant. So paperwork inside the car is not likely.
319718 = the consecutive build number of the body at Fisher
TR935= Dark red gut buckets
69 69 = roof and body-color, platinum silver
033???
Very desirable color combo IMO.
Thanks guys for all info. Got some off line but not all . any way this could be a 442? Painted 442 decals on bottom of car. But cutlass emblem and no cut outs on bumper. But claims to be factory 4 speed. Sad part motor long gone and a 400 Pontiac in its place. Can't load link but it is at facebook market place colorado springs
Can't tell from the cowl tag, since Olds used Cutlass cowl tags on 68 and 69 442s. Post the VIN, that will tell you for sure. Lots of Cutlii came with four speeds.
No 69s came with painted or applied decal type 442 callouts on the body. A 1976 or 77 would have that along the bottom. Like Joe suggest the VIN will solve it. 344 as the first 3 characters = 442, anything else is Cutlass or F85.
WIth a Pontiac hacked into it the value is quite a bit less than a Cut or 442. If the body/frame is super clean then it's a nice base for a resto or driver.
Post some pics if you can.
Not OEM factory markings along the sides for sure.
It's most likely a Cutlass S. Which doesn't suck. It looks like a lot of good parts. That's a factory 4-speed center console. Aftermarket shifter? What's your intention? Frame and body OK? Pull the chrome trim off under the wipers and look for rot. If so that's big-dollar metalwork. Is trunk solid? If yes and its about 5K go for it. Is that a 389, 400 or 455 Poncho? That's worth something to a Pont guy.
Make an offer. I am selling my 1969 olds Cutlass S with 442 package, has not been driven since 2002. I am the 2nd and now 4th owner., Has factory muncie m22 rock crusher 4 speed (rebuilt in 97) . Pontiac 400 in it. Everything is factory except for engine. Has original rims beauty rings and center caps, etc. Had a minor electrical fire under the hood so it will need a engine compartment wiring harness. New rear quarter panels and right lower replacement panel fpr front right fender
The asking price is only about 2X what it is worth. And no, there was no "M22" offered from the factory in 1969. The "everything is factory except the engine" tells you that the seller is either clueless or lying. The "M22" isn't factory. The stripes aren't factory. The aftermarket hood isn't factory. the steering wheel isn't factory. The T-handle isn't factory. Etc, etc. Heck, the 14x7 wheels aren't even factory.
A solid roller, clean frame/undercarriage, decent floors including trunk, all metal seems good, no cowl or window channel rot or major wreckage is 3500 to 5K all day in the NE rust belt. So ya about 1/2 of the asking price.
As far as the stripe police go, I gotta admit the stripe is not bad sans the 442 numbers. Kind of 67 Skylark GS ish.
