deceleration chirping noise

Greetings all! I have an issue that came up on the way back from a show yesterday. Upon deceration while in gear, 4 speed manual, I now have a loud chirping sound. It only occurs while in gear and not while coasting to a stop out of gear. Its not a brake issue as far as I can tell as it only happens while the car is in gear. Does anyone have an idea of what I should look for. Thanks in advance

When's the last time the u-joints were checked? May squeak when they are under load.

And check to see if the gear lube in the trans is full!
Might not be a bad idea to change it, if it's around 50 yrs. old!
