Dash pots and Idle Solenoids?

When I got my 68 442 it had a Performer intake and Edelbrock carb on it. No dash pot or idle solenoid....It is a TH400 with AC. Still going with the Performer intake but installing a Sparky built Q-jet..AND I have removed the AC (a move I know I will probably regret) Should I wait till I start this motor up and see if either the dash pot or the solenoid is needed? Did it have both from the factory?

Thanks for your input!

Tom,
The dashpot and idle solenoid both install in the same location on the intake so it would be an either/or thing. However, for your 442, it would have had a dashpot. I believe the idle solenoid was only used on the small block, 2 bbl cars with AC and therefore not on a 442.

I would wait and see if you need them. I generally don't use them.
