"Dark Mode Beta"

What is this and why is it at the top of this discussion topic? I am an old fart and despise changes just to make a change when the current mode is working quite adequitely
I see it is at the top of every topic. After looking more at what is going on, some might be excited about being able to access this site on their mobile device. Not for me, I only use my device for communicating, basically nothing else. For others, I guess it might useful.

I agree - it's pretty obnoxious in that it doesn't go away once you view it.

Luckily it will go away on December 25th, 2022

I don’t have a computer, because I have a phone that does all that stuff that only computers could do 20 years ago.

It benefits some that prefer the dark screen, if you don't like it don't use it.

I'm not completely on-board w/ any benefit.
End-Users have always had the ability to put their mobile device into Dark Mode either on an iPhone, an Android or other numerous mobile devices (e.g. laptop, tablet, etc.).

How do I turn on dark mode on Android?
Use Dark Mode on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Change colors in Windows (Dark Mode/Light Mode)

My kids accuse me of living in the dark ages.

Norm, I've had my iphone set to dark mode for a few years now, as I find it easier to read and it does save somewhat on battery life. The iphone setting, however, did not convert *this* site into dark mode. The new menu option, however, allows the end user to change it for this site.

Jeff - Thanks. I hadn't thought of the aspect *this* website was not written to support Dark Mode. I'm more familiar w/ having Dark Mode written as a feature at the OS level which then basically supports Dark Mode on all devices. Thanks for mentioning this. There are options as to how a Dark Mode is written. I think it's down to how the Website prefers to write the Dark Mode feature. One of the areas where you write code to support various ways to enable a feature. Still, I'd think a device which allows you to enable Dark Mode as a feature (on the device) would have more popularity than having to enable Dark Mode based upon the website you visit. Oh well.
