CYA wording in auction ad
ePay ad has interesting wording concering the list of vehicles that the part fits:
"Compatibility chart is a suggestion not based on fact"
WTH?
Good thing we are not confusing the issue with "facts" !!
I am still wondering why the hole size is wrong... or listed as wrong.
Edit - nominally, that is a 3/4" tube and hole. Not so wrong.

And, you're surprised because???
Look, ebay ads are written to maximize the odds that they will be found by search engines. This is why ads have those annoying "Fits: oldsmobile" BS in the titles. Doesn't matter if the part actually fits or not. The sellers just want to make sure you look. Putting those application tables into the ads similarly ensure that these ads pop up in a targeted search. Your mistake was that you actually LOOKED at the table. I don't waste my time.

Well, this is a "special" vendor.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-HURST-O...dWsPs9&vxp=mtr
So, they got the nominal hole size right at 3/4"
Of course the grommet hole is actually a little smaller in order to be a tight fit on the 3/4" steel PCV tube.
The original 399764 grommet's hole is ~18mm ID or 0.71" or ~11/16"

Oh, I am calling "correct" on the tube/ hole diameter - a statistically rare event worthy of note itself, from the vendors of "duel" exhaust parts.
On another note, a cheap 1111933 dist'r seller at least mentioned once in there that it's a reproduction and not an original stamp. Although "This is a factory built distributor" I would rate as misleading to deceitful.
item # 281953872736
Seller wilma99 (3474) 100% Positive feedback
here is an annotated pic asserting RESTAMP for our collective records, how to tell restamp from real, etc.

Compatibility chart says the thermostat housing I am buying fits my 2012, Mini Cooper, Countryman, ALL4, with the 1.6 liter turbocharged engine. Extensive detail in the application compatibility but when I take everything apart to install it, it has the wrong electrical connector. Mine has a 4-prong plug and the ordered part has a 2-prong. Gotta send it back and see if they can get me the right one. It is new, but it isn't the right one.
This kinda thing has been happening since vehicles started needing repairs. I had an '82 Dodge Omni Charger 2.2 that was a beast to get parts for. Every time I needed parts I would give the parts guy the description (this was before the internet) and take the parts home. I would find they did not fit and have to go back with the bad part only to find out the part was for a Shelby Charger. No matter how many times i told that story the parts guy would never believe me that the parts I needed were for a Shelby Charger and not the Charger 2.2. Life goes on!
