Cutlass supreme for $32,000 on ebay

I saw a 72 cutlass supreme for sale on ebay for $32,000. Who else thinks this car is priced too high. It says over $70,000 invested.

Value is what you're willing to pay....

You never get back the money you invested in a car - everyone knows that. Cars are BAD investments. They are better classified as 'money pits'.

I think there is value in the car, but it's grossly misrepresented as a 'total restoration'. - complete with a Ford 9" rear end? This is someones drag car that they're tired of and wants a new project.

It does have a nice OAI hood, and the body/interior looks very presentable. Lots of little details that can easily be changed to OEM. The steering wheel looks like a 'modified' Grant. Note: this auction also has a 'make an offer' box. I think the car is overpriced too.

That much $$ in the "resto" you would figure they would use '72 headlight bezels instead of '71

uhh I don't think so. Way overpriced. Anyone asking that much had a mint frame-off resto done IMO, and has hundreds of high-res pics of underneath the car, steering linkage, suspension, etc.

Steering wheel and huge *** tac alone turn me off, not to mention the engine compartment. I would expect a completely restored original looking engine area.

It's not easy being green...

Do I believe he spent $70K on the car? Yeah, if he paid someone else to do the work. Does that make it worth more than $30K? Not really. Customized cars are much harder to sell than all-original cars. Of course, only one person with cash needs to think it's worth the money. I do like the upholstery.

Oh I can see someone spending that much and like Joe said, if someone else did all of the work? Oh yeah the money would add up quick. Someone can easily pay top dollar for everything and end up around there. I don't think it would fetch $32K let alone $70K. Back to factory perfect? Closer to $30K maybe and that is a huge maybe.

Assuming that he is honest, the seller claims to have owned the car for 25-years, now keeping a car for THAT long, yeah he probably DID invest $70K over time in updates, oil changes, etc.

On a side note; is it me or is that a STUPID place to put a tach? I won't even get into how much I loathe those stupid looking rice-rocket-boy-racer tachs. oops...went there.

Maybe he thinks someone will get a little 'sloshed' at a St. Patrick's Day party, and buy it 'cause it's GREEN!

Well, looks like someone with 30K liked it enough to plunk down the cash.

It didn't say it was sold.

"This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available."

Could be he came way down or decided to keep it once he saw where the bids were.

If that car actually did sell for $30K , mine would be up for sale by the end of summer for $45,000.

The car was not sold. The seller has relisted it with a starting bid of $26,000.
