Cutlass pulley question

OK, this is driving me crazy at this point, so I thought I'd check.

Can someone please give me the power steering pulley # for a 68-72 Cutlass with a 350 and AC? Specifically, a '68, if they happen to be different through the years.

I want to make sure that the power steering pulley for a 350 w/AC was in fact different from that used on a 400 w/AC.

It's been determined that pulley 399406 (KH) was used in a '68 442 w/AC.

'68 350 and 400 use the same power steering with A/C pulley...399406...It's in the assembly manual, pg (6-1 111)

Thank you much. My asssembly manual has been held hostage for the past year or so, so it's been difficult figuring this stuff out.

Well, I found a 399406 pulley. I'm hoping the one on there is incorrect and this will fix the issue.

There are 2 versions of the KH pulley.
One has holes, and one is solid.
You need the solid one for factory correctness, but if that's not important, the other will do the same job.

Thanks for that info. At the moment, I'll settle for getting the darn car running. I'll worry about correctness later. haha.

I can't speak for every year and every combination of options, but in general, small block abd big block engines use the same pulleys. Think about it: the added deck height does nothing to what is required of the pulleys, it only requires longer belts.

Actually, I have had three 71/72 Cutlass/442 cars and all came with holes in the KH PS pulley originally. One was purchase new in the family, and another less than two years old. The third was bought to part out in the early 80s. My experience is that the solid PS pulleys are one groove for non-A/C and with holes are KH with two groove PS pulleys for A/C and HD cooling.

Yes, but we're talking about A 1968 car in this instance. The pulleys with the holes coincided with the new style of pump reservoir. They needed the holes in the pulleys to access the bolts.

1970 442 Power Steering Pulley - KH

I know this thread is a little old, but would a KH Solid Power Steering Pulley be correct for a 03C built 1970 Pace Car or should it be the KH with the 3 holes?
My car has the solid pulley on it and it is marked KH and I am just trying to determine if in all likelihood that it is the original one.
Thanks.

I'd encourage you to create a new thread asking this question, or send a PM to Chris. Chris (Octaina) has a real nice spread sheet listing what came with what.

Original in my opinion. The pulleys without holes coincide with the older reservoir style pumps.

So, I am assuming based on my pic that I have the older pump, correct?
