Question Cut out bumper worth?

My friend is going to look at a GM rear cut out bumper for a '70. Its driver quality or an excellent core. Its very straight but the chrome is worn. I didn't see the pics but he said the chrome shows wear where water runs off the trunk lid just to the inside of the tail lights and there is a scrape on one side that took off the chrome but the bumper doesn't appear dented. The guy won'ty give him a price but says he knows what they are worth and wants a fair offer.
What is the value do you think?

I have one which sounds nicer than that one if your friend will venture into North Jersey. I asked the same question a year ago and was told abt $350 for mine.

I'd take less b/c wife is on my a$$ to clean out the garage.

I would be finding out what he THINKS its worth before he wastes his time. My near perfect core still costs me $550.00 to rechrome 3 years ago and there are repos ava. cheap that look and fit good. I would think 150.00-200.00 would be the most it should be worth as is.

I do hate when people do business this way. If you are parting out a whole car I think its OK but for specific parts say what you want for it. 9x out of 10 you make what you think is a fair offer and they take it as an insult.

I think when a seller says "I know what it's worth, so make me a fair offer" suggests the seller doesn't actually know what it's worth and is a ploy to induce the buyer into actually making a fair offer.

A bluff so the buyer doesn't lowball.

i have a core that i am trying to sell. it needs rechromed and a couple dents fixed but it is solid. i had it listed for $100 and no takers. sounds like the one you are looking at is a little nicer than mine.

I don't hate when people do business this way, because I just don't do business with them. Most forums, with for sale sections, require a price is listed. You can always barter from there.
