Cruise Control '70 442

Hey Guys:
Adding a factory NOS cruise control unit to my '70 442. The instructions call for using an installation "tool" that did not come in the kit. The "tool" is basically a long, thin, tube with a wire hook that fits down inside the base of the steering column so that you can thread the plug and the power wires from the new cruise control/turn signal lever to its connection underneath the dash.

1) Does ANYONE in Oldsmobile World have one of these tools they would be willing to sell/loan/trade for my first born child? I would be eternally grateful, pay shipping both ways and be your friend for life (maybe not the best incentive I can come up with) or,

2) Has anyone done this installation before and worked the wires through using some other method? I have had no luck so far in what I have tried.

Attached is a scan of the instructions sheet. See item #5 for the illustration of the tool and how it works.

Bless you all and thanks in advance,

Frank

I just did it in my car and i used a piece of wire from my wire feed welder, bent a small hook on it and it worked perfect.

Yep, this or fish tape, or a carefully cut and bent hanger will work.
Lots of room in the column to pull it through - I did it easily.

W31MAN: Good idea. I have something similar I can try.

Lady72: Cool, didn't even know what "fish tape" was. Thanks for passing along the information.
