Correct window crank handles for a '72 Supreme?
Ok, I'm on the right coast in beautiful Philly. ...ugh. I don't profess to be an expert,. I have a '71 and the ***** are little darker than clear (hard to describe), but my ***** are definitely not black. Hopefully by the time that you receive my message, other member's food has digested, irrespective of left or right coast's..lol 😆 😆
Hi all. 1972 window crank *****, in my experience and research, were always clear regardless of interior color. Any survivors will be various shades of yellow/brown due simply to age and sun and smoke. It appears black ***** disappear in 1969 but I can’t yet quote a reliable source on that. I’ll keep looking if I can and see what I can dig up.
I think the above gentlemen are correct.
Those ***** are not for a 72. In addition to the wrong color, they are the wrong shape. The **** in the 70-72 cars is a better design. If you look at the ****, the earlier years were a straight sided cylinder, and the later years were tapered on the sides, like if you cut a top in half along its pivoting access. It's been years since I heard this, but I believe the **** was redesigned in contour because you could grip around the older **** and get your fingers behind it, and pinch the unholy hell out of yourself as you wheeled it around and the arm rotated into your fingers, pinching them against the back of the ****. The newer ****, with the tapered clearance, gave a place for your fingers to safely grab that would not pinch the fingers so totally.
I always grab one of those like I'm making the OK sign and use the side of my thumb and index finger, making a loop, to grab the edge. I know some people grab with the tips of all fingers and the thumb, like the Italian pinched fingers gesture. This might be how to get pinched.
