coolant coming out both exhausts

Finally got the car running great!!!...

So it never used coolant before, but only about 100 miles since i re-did everything cooling related.
I took it out for a 20 mile beating to see if anything else will break. Noticed i needed to add 3- gallons of coolant.

Steam/ coolant coming out both pipes. Allot too basically sprays water out...

I know what it could be, but never experienced loosing 3-4 gallons so quickly

It could be a lot of things, remember as the engine heats there is pressure pushing the water out. It does not take long to empty the cooling system.

Yup, you broke it.

Intake manifold gasket leaking into combustion chamber or blown head gasket.
air bubbles in rad with show head gasket failure.
Fix it before you loose your main, rod or cam bearings.

Do you have water in your oil also?

No water in the oil. I did just change the oil yesterday that looked fine also.

Whats the easiest way to isolate intake / head leak?

Leak down test should isolate it.... Tedd

Either way the intake manifold is going to have to come off, I'd start there. I would not run the car anymore.

I would start by pulling the spark plugs and see what is wet or not and check each cylinder for coolant... Also, if you are running dual exhaust and are not using an x-pipe/h-pipe, you obviously have a problem on both banks of the engine...

So i got the manifold off.
The 1st 2- bolts were very corroded ( had to tap the threads also) and the gasket area around the water ways are very pitted.
The aluminum w-30 manifold is very pitted ( like chunks missing around the water holes.
Still a bit of gasket sealing space.

My mechanic friend stopped by. He said that the cooling passages are horrendous. And the heads would have to be milled. AND should pull everything apart and replace all the gaskets/ clean the block.
Witch i agree...

The engine has 2k miles on it, but it sat for 20 years. It has roller cam/ rockers, ported F heads.
Oh and the heads are studded so i have to pull the motor anyways ( a/c car).

At a cross road. Thinking aftermarket heads/ intake. But i just got a brand new q- jet.
Is there a performance spreadbore intake? That will fit the w-30 air cleaner?

Possibly Offenhauser, but I think it's a single plane.

Must have sat with coolant in it for 20years? Coolant will become acidic over long time of sitting and eat aluminium intakes, seals and gaskets.
Edelbrock performer is a spreadbore intake, but sits a little higher than W30 intakes, so hood clearance could be an issue. See if your W30 intake can be repaired first.
