convertible top or paint
Painting the car should come first, in my opinion. At least, that's what I did. The top was about the last thing I did before taking it to the alignment shop for final alignment so I could drive it.

I would do the top first, less chance of damaging your fresh new paint and if the top leaks or is torn less chance for any damage to the car once its replaced.
your paint can be primer and still work OK if the top is junk its not doing its job
