Container unpacked today

Hi all , the olds was unloaded today all went well no damage to any of the cars , take a look at the corvette being unloaded , our olds was so easy we just rolled it out, check out the mould it was all over the place, we had the olds covered in vaseline to protect the paint and chrome so may look dull in photos

Man the way those container guys work is scary! But they obviously know what they're doing.

That's one beautiful Olds!

Great pictures, I would imagine there was a large pucker factor involved in removal of the cars from the container. G-R-E-A-T looking Oldsmobile!

Havn't got the final bill yet but so far, to get her from the seller in the US to the unpack yard here in sydney has cost me $3000 aussie dollars my final invoice will come from my customs broker which will inlude all charges at this end including his fees.

Citcapp , both the wife and i are still buzzing with excitment , we are both still day dreaming , we have been looking at photos for the last 3 months and biting our finger nails to the point of bleeding while it was at sea and to see the doors fling open and to actually touch it smell it and sit in it well you have to be a car person to understand, my wife went all teary, i can't describe our excitement , besided the birth of our children this would have to rate as one of the most exciting things to happen to us.
regards chris.

well done rocketdownunder. looks great. --I have shipped twice like that to NZ and no sign of mould.(30 days tho) Pig in a poke as to whether one gets a good container or there is moisture when loading.
I have some other stuff coming at the moment from the states via China ! -2 months
Bet that Olds is a rarity in Sydney .Would be here. They all are.

Surprising that the shippers wouldn't have put some desiccant in the crate with the cars to control the moisture.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. If the container is fairly well sealed then you would only have to deal with the moisture that got in the day of loading. That would be hell on a rainy day with 100% humidity. I guess it would be a crap shot on whether you get your car loaded on a dry day or a moist day.

Cool car, I was built the same year.

In the early 70's in below zero weather I did some work at a Porsche-Audi dealer insulating and drywalling a nasty, smelly, cold, slippery single garage bay stuck on the side of the building. They used the space for cleaning the shipping cosmolene off the cars with kerosene and I can still smell the stuff.

A sea cat was shipped in the car for rodent control, the Vaseline prevents hairballs.

You'll be the talk of Sydney!

She looks to be in beautiful condition. What are you going to do with the steering wheel?

I had 1948 MG-TC for a number of years and didn't have any trouble. You will not have a problem driving from the left! We went to the UK and I rented a car and the only problem I had was the first rotary we came to. I had a terrible urge to turn right.

I had a 98LS your year-- they were ALWAYS great road cars!

Best wishes to you and your family and happy cruisin'.

I hear they soak the underneaths of Porsche's and other cars with kerosene in Europe to protect them from the elements. I hear some guys do that here in the states as well to protect it from the slat during winters, anyone hear of that?

Don't see how that would work. It would work great for cleaning crap off the bottom of the car but wouldn't protect much as it would stay on the car for very long.
