Cleaning cat converters

I bought a 92 Nissan sentra se-r for my sons first car. It runs really well but failed the smog test needed for transferring the title. When I looked at the test results and the way the car runs it was clear that the cat conv. was not working very well. I was a licensed smog test technician from 1986 to 2010 so I know my way around these sort of things. I removed the cat (it is flange mounted at both ends) and inspected it. It is the factory cat and was in perfect condition. I started looking into cleaning it and found an article on a laboratory in Spain that had success cleaning them with a citric acid solution. The article said the this restored the cat back to 90 percent efficiency. I found a YouTube vid of someone doing this and copied his procedure. I attached the before and after smog test printouts. I could not believe the results, if any of you are having a similar problem I recommend giving it a try. The whole thing cost me about 40 dollars.
