Choke problem in NZ - help!
Hi gang, back on here after a few months.
I've got the Ciera fairly well sorted out (rebuilt motor, radiator, starter etc) including the carb which I got rebuilt in Texas by a reputable firm.
The carb originally had no choke flat or mechanism - now it does and the choke works - sort of!!.
When dead cold a single push on the gas-pedal and a twist of the key gets the motor running, it 'idles at around 2000rpm, all is well IF you drive off then.
However if the motor is turned off within a few minutes of being started and then restarted shortly afterwards it idles at a speed that it would idle at when warmed up - or even slower (it will die at times)
And if pulled into Drive it will die out almost straight away - it will restart again easily enough but will keep doing this unless you keep the motor at 2000rpm or so until the motor has started to warm up.
On removing the air-filter I see the choke flap is about 3/4 or more shut.
Any ideas on what needs to be adjusted to fix this??
Note: Once the motor is close to normal running temperature all is well, it starts right up and keeps going when the shifter is pulledt into Drive.
