Chipped pinion gear

Guys, professional thoughts on using this chipped pinion gear, part of a set I am looking at to buy for my 66 pontiac 2+2.. these b body olds and pontiacs you cannot buy new ring and pinions for..so used is my option..thinkingI can smooth out the chip as its not in the area where the ring and pinion mesh, missing by a small margin..thoughts? Keep in mind finding a set of 3:23 gears for big bodies is almost impossible..thank you..

Go for it. Be sure to smooth and polish it best as you can. I have done the same and never had a problem with it. Also make sure to inspect carefully for cracks.
