Carb tit

Anybody know where this vacuum tit may be for? It’s a 77 Cutlass 350 with AC. I swapped mine out for this rebuilt one and everything is identical except my old one does not have this piece. The carb number and even build dates are the same on both carbs.

What is the carb # & build date? Rochester or Carter?

Only trying to research this to provide some assistance. Note "lars" discussion in this thread Post #2...you may have a later date carb (e.g. 1978? 1979?)

If you mean the red one, mine is just capped off like yours.

I only did casual study years ago, but as i recall its for an emissions hose for some cars in the mid-late 70’s. My memory is there were some vacuum doohickies that sucked carburetor fuel bowl gas vapors through a charcoal canister to keep them from evaporating into atmosphere.

Unless you have the charcoal canister to absorb such vapors, cap it off and don’t worry about it. Suggest a rubber (not vinyl) cap for better longevity.

That's a bowl vent and a hose would go to the evap canister.
