carb pedal interface
I got a new stock cable for my 1971 442 with a quadrajet. What holds the gas pedal side of the cable??
It has a crimped soldered thing and came with blurry instructions-- pictures but I am not sure how it attached stock?
Thanks

Do you have the original cable? Mine has a plastic "bushing" with a slot in it to slide the cable (sideways) through and the crimped part will butt up against that while the other end of the "bushing" is pointed to center and stay in the pedal arm.
I guess that's what I'm asking.......I don't have that plastic part. I will try to keep it original and not use the aluminum squeeze garage door cable thingy. Any suggestions where to order the part...........preferably where you don't have to order $50.00 pf stuff before they consider your order?

Ouch. Just remembered that I cut that slot in the bushing from a donor car. Sorry. I see what you mean though, none of my parts catalogues have that listed. Might be time to get creative, unless someone else wants to chime in here?
I'm pretty sure that the same little bushing was used in darn near all GM cars late-'60s through '70s, and possibly into the '80s.
It's got an OD that just fits snugly in the hole in your gas pedal lever, and ID that lets the cable core slide through easily, a flare on one end to stop it against the pedal lever, and a slit along it wide enough to slip it over the cable core.
It's called the throttle cable to accelerator pedal retainer, #403929.
You could make one out of something else if you were desperate, but you should be able to find one easily enough.
