Canada shipped cars
Anyone have any idea on how to know if a car was built in Lansing specifically a W car and then exported to Canada for sale. Curious about a 69 W30 car that my uncle owns and unfortunatley he has no broadcast car. He is quite a bit older then all of us and is not computer savvy. I did call Gm heritage in Canada and they wanted me to forward him a form to fill out and they would research the vin and then let him know if the car was built there. Unfortunaley they could not let me know anything over the phone and the fee even if it yielded no results would cost $16.95. Just wondering if anyone has any other way of doing this or if their are any indicators that would give compelling evidence that it was exported and sold in Canada. Thanks guys and any info would be appreciated. If not I will just pay the fee to Gm of canada and call it an early stocking stuffer xmas gift.
The only thing I have noticed on imported cars is the white rectangular label on the left fender filler below the harness and just above the control arm that reads 'GM Canada Oshawa'. It is attatched upside down so that you are able to read it bending over the left fender.

There will be a M in the VIN such as 34487M****** and will have LAN on the cowl tag. Both of these "codes" stand for Lansing, Mich
If it was in fact built for export, GM Heritage of Canada is the only place to get the info on the car.

If the car is all original, then it should have the white tag on the inner fender for the cars exported into Canada. Otherwise, you need to contact the GM Heritage Center. If it was imported into Canada, then you will get all the options plus it should id the code for the selling dealer
X2 mike on w machines only being built in Lansing. Just wondering if there was a way to know if a Lansing car was exported to Canada for sale without using gm heritage Canada. Trying to save the 16.95. I'm a penny pincher.
