pull it apart and take it to a machine shop and have them weld it shut.then redrill and tap it.

Well, looks like some Ethiopian engineering is in order. You fill weld, drill and tap. Sleeve it and just use a nut, bolt, and washer...etc. Or buy another core and swap cases. Then again you can circumvent all the headaches and just get another one.

I believe that's a fairly rare open face alternator, hard to find another one.

it is off a 69 442, so it is the open face 37amp alt. I want to save it, and reuse it, as these are hard to find today, and it is an original dated, stamped, alt.

thanks for taking the time to respond. I will look into a machine shop to do the repairs.

Will post pics of the before and after outcome!

thank you

Sorry, didn't look at the whole picture just the mounting hole. A bit of creativity can still fix it and have it look nice.

That's the best fix.
Do it right and it'll be hard to tell it was ever done.

Yes, do NOT take it to any machine shop. Send it to someone that does those types of repairs.

Ken does excellent work and I recomend him highly. However, the repaired end frame looks to be a replacement and not the same one. So this makes me wonder if it was repaired or replaced. The fan is different too. I think the original fan is the correct one if it is for a 65. Take a look at the upper edge of the casting. It is different. In any case it is a fantastic job done by Ken Bruno.
