Can Anyone save this car
Can Anyone save this car
I was going through a local junkyard the other day and spotted this 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. It has been painted red but I don't think it is the origional color. there are a couple of ***** missing, otherwise the interior is complete. The body is complete, and the trim is mostly complete. The car HAS BEEN WRECKED. The right rear quarter panel is bent pretty bad, and the rearend has been shifted to the drivers side. The car has NO ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION. The junkyard is asking $600 for the whole thing.
The car was a 330/320 Horsepower car with a column shifted three speed auto trans.
If you want more picture just ask
Can someone save her?

Looks like some 1/2 way decent parts available on it. With the rear being shifted, sounds like some serious frame damage, but anything can be fixed with enough $. Kind of rare seeing a red vinyl top, wonder what the original color was, white?
Gee, there looks like a LOT of good useable parts on that car. Seems like not long ago there were people looking for 66/67 cars that could be used as donors for quarter panels and roof lines. The fenders look pretty good and there's a lot of trim on this car that's really hard to come by now a days. Complete interiors and dashes are really hard to find. The damage on the back doesn't really look all that bad; could probably be pulled out fairly easy. Appears to be superficial not frame damage by looking at the pics - the trunk lines up where it should- indicates just sheet metal damage unless there's something hidden underneath. This car could easily be a candidate for a resto mod. Hope someone close to you can pick it up.
Let's see... with my old chebby 3/4 ton and a car trailer... 8 miles per gallon for about 5,000 to 6,000 miles round trip? It would be fun though!!!
And I probably do have the parts to bring it back to life. Too bad its on the other side of the country!!!!!

The only thing I see wrong with it is the right rear quarter. It would be worth buying. In parts its worth more than that. From what I see it doesn't look like it would take much to make the body strait. Other than a quarter panel. Someone should have a parts car that would sell you one.
Get a toilet plunger, a slide hammer, a BFH and a little bondo and you could fix that quarter right up.
It looks like something fell on the quarter or another car was sitting on it in the boneyard, front end loader or a wrecker truck moving it around.
The seperation at the front fender to door on the driver's side is a little funky, could be the way it's sitting or the clip is loose.
I wouldnt buy that thing sight unseen.
I won't buy any car sight unseen actually.
The paint inside the passenger door is shiny red?
Maybe it was red?

I went back there this morning, and will try to post some more pics of the car. THe interior is champagne. There is more rust than I thought on her. The floors are bad making it the flinstone mobile, and the bottom edges of the doors are pretty rusty. I looked under the hood and the sheet metal around where the radiator would sit is rusted through. I did post a question about decoding the firewall tag in another area of the forums.

I have done some research already online and have gotten this far:
1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme F-85 Sport Coupe Post
Oldsmobile 330/320HP Rocket V8
Champagne Interior
Built in Framingham, MA in April and was the 1211th car built
The car was repainted red and the vinyl top was taken off however, all of the trim is still there.
I believe the car was Black with a White top but am unsure.
Please Help

Can it be saved sure but thats not a project for a first timer. The frame IS bent as will be the trunk floor and rear body panel down low on the rh rear. That thing took a hard lick in the rh rear to do that damage. See all the buckles in the 1/4? That because the car is 2-3" short on that side and the metal had to go somewhere. If I was looking for a project like that I would offer $200-300 and see what happens just expect a lot of work getting it straight if you do get it.
