Buying a 67 442 convertible?

Need a little advice. I want to buy the 67 but I'm not sure of a good price. It has great body panels, no defects. All primer. Engine, front end and rear suspension needs rebuild. I found rear body mounts rotted out but frame looks ok there. Top is good but inside liner has a rip. dash looks good but has after market front seats. It has drum brakes all around. Car has Muncie 4 speed and posi rear. I had limited access to entire frame and engine compartment because the guys wife is a hoarder and just parted boxes all around the car. What do you think?

I would say look again, especially at frame. What about the original 400 engine? Primer is the perfect finish to hide loads of sins on the body. Check to be sure it is a real 442.

Without pictures its hard to put value but a 67 (if real) 442 conv is desireable. Ever more so if factory 4spd and has a rebuildable E block 400. Providing the frame and body etc is good 6G's I would say is about right. I paid 3000 for a 67 442 post car with non original rear not posi, missing front bench seat, missing 400 engine, crappy dash, crappy bumpers, broken grill, bad tires and wheels, torn interior, garbage louvered hood, one garbage fender but minimal rot and straight body needing paint etc.

Thanks Oldsmaniac, I live in Allentown,NJ. I'll verify its a true 442 and then go from there. I'm kind of lucky this is my cousin's best friend and I really don't think he would screw me over intentionally. If I get this car I will need a referal for a paint guy.
