Broke down for an hour on side of road.

Just had fun fixing car on side of road in 95 degree heat. Started with thinking car had vapor locked. Loosened fuel line and had pressure with all liquid. Next check for power at Performance ignition distributor. Thinking maybe my phone in pocket turned on LOCK on distributor. Nope have power to distributor. Next see if rotor is spinning. Next see if for some dumb reason it jumped time. All good. Look at spark plug and its dry. Thinking now no gas in Quadrajet bowl. Pull top of carb and plenty of gas in bowl. Kept looking around and found it. 2 of the 3 wires that plug into side of cap were not 100% plugged in and they vibrated out in 1 weeks time just enough to not send electric to coil. Pushed them in until they clicked and fired instantly. Now time for a mixed drink and cool off. Moral of the story check everything and then check it again, never assume its ok.

If you checked the last thing first, you would be a lot further ahead.

Eric that is such a revelation. That is greatness. I wonder why we don't keep checking things after the car starts. I got a good laugh out of this.

Had a similar experience in my 63 88 years ago. Ended up being the coil wire had wiggled up out of the cap.

My coil wire popped off once on the highway. If the boot connection is truly weather tight the air trapped in the boot compresses and can push out the wire as the engine is running/vibrating.
