Braking Options for 59 Olds 88--Need advice
My 1959 Olds Dynamic 88's master cylinder is getting a little soft and I wanted to know where I can find a replacement master cylinder. I've only been able to find places that will rebuild my current one but I don't want to have to wait by the mailbox for months. Does anyone know how I can get one?
I've also heard of a guy named www.discbrakemike.com who has a dual master cylinder disk brake conversion kit that mounts in the engine bay but that would be a bit more expensive.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael

One thing about Disc brake conversions are you need to put 15" or larger Wheels on so the Calipers will fit inside of the back of the Wheel and not bind!!

What engine?
I found this, supposedly for the 371. Not sure what was different about the 394, but it's not listed under it for some reason.

I'll assume you have power brakes that mounts at an angle. I have had five of these same power brake units ( Bendix and Moraine) of 1957 1959 and 1956 rebuilt by a guy that advertises in Hemmings. He is out of Florida and have been extremely happy with each one. Turn around time is about 8 days from the time I send it till its back on my doorstep. This would probably be the easiest route to go. By the time your done with the disc brake setup you'll find out that new size rims , brake pedal setups, fabrications, new lines, etc will take a whole lot longer than the 8 days of waiting. Trying to find a NOS unit is a waste of time. Dried seals, dried out gaskets and dead bugs is the last thing you want for a braking system
