Brake pads
Brake pads
It's been awhile since I've bought brake pads. Are the brake pads from Autozone or Advance worth a damn these days or should I just go to NAPA? Any thoughts on ceramic over [asbestos]?
Thanks everyone.
Thanks everyone.
The quality of pad you choose really depends on the type of car you have and how you drive it. My thinking is get the best pad you can afford, there's really not that big of a difference in price. Your average run of the mill pad goes for $25 per axle and the premiums are around $50+. I've been using Performance Friction ceramic pads for years, never had a problem. I think any of the parts stores better pads will work just fine for normal driving. As everyone will say.....this is no place to go cheap.
Thanks everyone. Ended up getting "BestBrake" ceramics from O'Reilley's. I asked the guy who made them and he said Reybestos. Forty-five bucks, not bad. Had to pay an extra couple bucks for the stuff that goes on the back. I said, that stuff used to come in the box with the pads. He just looked at me.
I knew the pads don't have asbestos in them but I didn't know what they're made of, that's why I put asbestos in [brackets]. Lord, the world would come to an end if there was asbestos in anything anymore. Just ask Australia.

Raybestos and Wagner brake parts are also made in China. At least, the parts of those brands I bought last year said Made in China on the box. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find ANY brake part from any brand that isn't made in China nowadays.
