bought a 72' supreme #'s match??
hey guys, my brother just bought a 72 supreme we were told it was ALL original. i'd like to find out if the block is the original (395558)
Also is there a site that breaks down vin #'s? Any help is appreciated, pics coming soon!

Just look on this pad (it may take some patient maneuvering, a mirror and a flashlight, or an accurately aimed digital camera):
If the last six digits stamped there match the last six digits of the car's VIN, it's the original numbers matching engine. The heads should have "7A" castings on them too, right above the VIN stamp pad on the driver's side or towards the back on the passenger's side.

VIN's of that era don't tell you a lot. You'll know most of it already (make, year, body style, and engine, assuming the one in there is original). About the only other piece of info it contains is the assembly plant where it was built.
