BOPC show, 45th annual Aurburndale Fla. Pics.

BOPC car show sponsored by Olds Club of Florida was held today in the city park in Auburndale FL
Weather was sunny and a high of 85 degrees.
There were about 100 to 150 cars there today. I took pics of the ones I found most interesting.

First the Oldsmobiles;

1929

1953 Fiesta

1955

1956

1959

1961 Cutlass

1962 25,000 mi original

1967 442

Commotion by Motion

The Pontiacs.

The Buicks

1940

1955

1963

See next post.

Great pictures - looks like a great turnout. Thanks for taking the time to post.

Yes it’s blasphemy but I have to ask : Does that “Commotion” ‘69 Hurst Olds have an Oldsmobile motor in it ? Asking for a friend lol. Baldwin/Motion Chevrolet was a famous hot rodding partnership/dealership back in the ‘60’s and 70’s. They did have an Oldsmobile dealership as well I believe.

Thanks for taking the time to post the pictures Charlie. I believe the red and white 59 is my favorite. We were supposed to have a BOPC Show here today but it was postponed until next Saturday due to rain. It is being sponsored by the local Pontiac club.

Agreed. Thank you for taking the time to take the pictures and posting them here.👍 So many nice cars.

The Motion car? I would bet it has an Oldsmobile motor in it. Motion put out Chevy's Oldsmobile's Buick's and Pontiac's. Possibly others too. You could take them your car and they would update whatever you wanted. Yenko too.

Yes, that 69 has an oldsmobile motion built engine,I have seen it and talked to the owner. I never heard of Yenko ever building any Oldsmobiles tho..Are you sure on that one?

Thank you Charlie !

Motion/Markowitz was the outlet for Oldsmobiles.

Motion Performance was the company that marketed their "mail order performance products". The shop was on Sunrrise Highway in Baldwin, L.I. New York. It was a 3 or 4 bay establishment that featured chassis dyno tuning and other performance work. They had magazine articles in a certain magazine that featured different GM performance cars as well as ads to sell their "special performance parts".
The "special" jets, metering rods and power piston springs were generally available from any GM dealer parts department if you knew what you were looking for. Ask me how I know.
1968 they usually didn't go to the same races as Berejik Olds (Woodland & Andreason) because Berejik would put them on the trailer and they couldn't run as fast as Berejik. Woodland & Andreason (442) and Stebbins & Dalrymple (68 H/O) had the NHRA national record holding 442 and Hurst/Olds.

1969 Motion ran the 69 H/O in Super Stock because stock 68 H/O and 421 Super Duty Pontiac's dominated the stock class due to a milder camshaft in the 69 H/O (292/296 advertised duration) vs. 308/308 in the 68 H/O.

I showed at this a couple of times but it was at Old Town in Kissimmee. When did they move to Auburndale?

I think it's been 10 years or more since the BOPC was at Old Town.
I don't know why the deal with Old Town fell through.

I learned that the management at Old Town was getting difficult to work with. The Corvette NCRS and the Pontiac Wide Track Warriors left about that time as well. There may be others I don't know about.
