A-Body Inner Fender Frame Seals

Purchased the control arm/frame seals from an Olds vendor. The type I received was not an exact reproduction (these appear to be die-cut from a neoprene sheet). Fit and quality were OK, however after attaching to the inner fender with staples the A frame seal flap has torn off the passenger side, drivers side is about 1/2 torn off.

Does anyone know of a vendor that makes a seal out of heavier material that is more durable? I installed this part about two-three months ago.

Thanks for any replies.

I bought mine from ILT. They seem to have no issues and were an easy install. Came with new SS staples too. The seals I got were made from masticated rubber which is most like the OEM ones and were the same pattern and thickness. Hope this helps.

Thanks Allan. Somewhat irritated since I installed the A frame seals prior to my drive to new residence (550 miles). One of the seals tore on the way down. I have been here a few months and the other seal is torn about 30% across. I am looking for something to keep the engine compartment clean and that will last. I will check into ILT. Somewhat hesitant to do business with them based on all the flaming from them and others on ROP.

I understand. All I can tell you is they have been good to deal with on my end. I'm happy with their products for the most part. As you say, there are some who flame them, and there are also other vendors who deserve to be flamed for the products and service they provide. Good luck with your decision - sorry the ones you got failed. Do you mind me asking who you got them from? I've heard stories about some flimsy smooth rubber ones that don't last but can't remember the brand.

I have had these in the garage for a while. Unfortunately I don't recall the vendor I purchased the seals from. The seals are a smooth neoprene sheet. I think they are the same ones LadynRob used on his car. I held on to these until I had enough MAWS to do. Just for clarification, I reused all my existing staples. The seal at the frame rails is there, but the "flap" that rests on the A frame is the part that is tearing.
