I’ve been on the hunt now for over a year for that truly special 70 – 72 Holiday 442 coupe within my budget and I’m very happy to say the eagle has finally landed! Arrived today via Reliable carriers.
This car was cared for by the second owner since 1971. It was painted once 30 years ago and still retains the original vinyl top. There is no rust. It has enjoyed the snuggly confines of a southern California garage since it was painted only to come out for an occasional drive on blue bird days. Seat covers and carpet were also replaced many years ago. The astute one will note the passenger fender was replaced however this was apparently done before owner #2 took possession. The camera lens makes the front view look a little wonky, but there is nothing askew on the car.
It has 154K miles and the original engine and trans have both been rebuilt. This car pulls hard and shifts very firm. Not sure what the rear gear is but I suspect it is a 3.08 or 3.23. I’ll look into this when I get some time to dink with it. Like most of the cars on the market, the A/C needs some attention. The PO didn't mess with it as R12 is hard come by these days. Needless to say I’m stoked and glad to be back on the road with an Oldsmoblie! Enjoy the pics…..
Nice car congrats!
What are the switches under the dash near the wiper switch?
Thank you, The **** is a hood latch pull and the toggle switch he said was added as an override switch for the A/C..(strange?). I've not ventured to try it out yet.
Thanks to all for the positive comments and well wishes! I'll have some questions as the car is not perfect and I'll want to make a change on it here and there. I'm looking forward to the journey.
