Big Block sound, Oldsmobile style ;)

A couple of videos of my two cars idling...they sound very different but they both sound good in their own right. This post is for you Rob, bust out the surround sound and let me know if I got the camera settings right

And if you got 'em, post 'em up

Ones old and ones fairly new. I need one with more action. I'll have to try the drive over the camera version.

The blue car has WZ manifolds, 2 1/2" Pypes downpipes, flowmaster 2 1/2" h-pipe kit through flowmaster 40 series mufflers.

The silver car has Doug Thorley 1 7/8" primary headers w/ 3" collectors running through 3" pipes to 3" flowmaster 2 chamber mufflers dumped in front of the axle.

I'm going out on a limb here, and hope you don't lynch me right off the bat, but I don't have any Big Block Olds videos. However, here's one video of one of my 454-powered cars (Edelbrock Performer cam and intake, Pete Jackson geardrive, Dynomax headers, Flowmaster dual chamber mufflers):

http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/f...urrent=006.mp4

Great day, guys! You've got some killer rides! Thanks for sharing.

my camera wont allow me to capture the sound correctly......its all distorted =0 maybe i need to record from like 20 feet away so you guys will be able to clearly hear the motor and not the distorted sound of it making it seem like total garbage. ='( what camera you guys recording with?

I've been using a Nikon D90 SLR with video function. But it also has problems getting a clear image up close, not focusing on the car, etc. The sound is good, however. Good luck with your picture-taking....we want to hear your engine!

Boy! Jasen (TK) and AH 64 I can't figure out what you guys are better at----downloading stuff on the computer or making Oldsmobiles (BBO) look and sound good. I'm jealous (a little) of both of you in both categories. I responded to the small-block thread hoping to get someone to help post the video of my '69 W-31---maybe on of you two "GENIUSES" could/would do it for me on that thread.
I do have a 455 "U" code '72 442 but don't have any videos or sounds to enter here. Somewhere on CO I posted some pics (don't really know how I pulled that off) of it, but no sound.
Both of you guys have two GREAT cars and should be very proud of them. GREAT JOB!!!

Nice videos from all. Regarding that Honda, isn't it just a spare starter for the silver car?

AH said this needed to be here. A little BB Olds at night. 2nd gear pulls. Cool stuff. The 1st part of the vid (in the day) is a small block. The nightime part is with the 455. Kind of neat to hear the difference. There's not much, but it is there.

I know there are more 455's out there, where are they? If we get enough videos I might just make a montage! Wouldn't that be cool

After reading all your posts and watching clips...I came across these two:

Maybe I should do that with my 98...OK, maybe not. Cream puffs don't do burn outs (too often).

Hey Steve, finally got around to hooking the computer up to the big system!
Your cars sound great, I like the rollover shot! However, the mic in your camera is not picking up the deepest rumble that I know it has. Typical of smaller cams, many mics just lack full frequency pickup.

Now THIS one that was linked to one of yours shook the walls (and myself!) and has some great dynamics; I have doubts that the recording was with really done with a phone...
That 98 is insane! He was whipping many other cars on the track!
When I have the windows open this fall I am gonna crank this one up to see how many neighbors we can get outside looking for the action!! I just wish the cameraman kept his mouth shut during the burnout...
I love it....

Even a '73 can be sweet!

With some big valve C heads, some boring, decking, milling, pistons, yadayadayada.., even a once tame '73 can be awakened.
