Bengies drive-in

I brought this up in another thread and I am curious. Have any of you that live in the DC/Baltimore area ever been to Bengies drive-in? I've seen their web site and heard that it is nice, but I've never actually made it up there (it's just north of Baltimore).

All I really know about it is that they are going into their 59th season.

I grew up in Glen Burnie. Never went to the Bengies, but there were 3 drive ins close by. Great for families and dates. Real shame people don't have that option anymore and won't experience it. Very few left in the entire country, and with movies becoming only available in digital I read that will be the death of the ones left.

We have one near us in Auburn, NY that just announced they probably will not re-open this year because it will cost them upwards of $80k to install a digital projector.

We have on in San Jose. I hope it stays open, it brings back a lot of memories. I used to take my girlfriends there, before I got married. I can't remember any movies but I did have a good time.

Bengies is already digital and I know that their screen is 52x120.

The only problem is that they are just over an hour away from my house. Because they do the "old fashioned" three movie showings, it would be about 2-3am before I would get home.

We used to have one in my town, we would go every so often when I was younger. The big event was always the " all niters" usually at the beginning of the season and at the end of the season....those were great until the time the FD, popo, and SP had to come down and quell the disturbance.....that was pretty much the end....now that area is a bunch of cookie cutter houses in a flat area w no trees (or character IMHO)

Went there many, many times many, many years ago! Honestly, I had no idea they were still in operation. I might just have to check it out.
