ash tray door springs??

quick question.

Since I bought my '71 cutlass, I have had an issue with the door to the dashboard ash tray not staying open or closed. It just sort of hangs there. It was a minor bother, and since I had other more important issues to get straightened out, I just sort of let it be.

This spring I am concentrating on the dash and the interior and so I now have to deal with this. Through reading up on it I have discovered that it is missing the "ash tray door springs". I have never heard of these before. Have any of you? How are they installed. I have found them on different websites and they only cost between $1 and $6 (depending on the website). But they still do not say what to do with them.

There is a thread on here about it. I think i had to put mine in the opposite of what the thread suggested though. Fusick sells them.

Thanks. I have no idea why I didn't check the pervious threads.

I found them on carID for 97 cents each. Just for a laugh I looked them up on OPGI. On their site they were $15 for a pair and another $14 for shipping! No mark-up there!
